I’ve just completed the Google AI Essentials course!It was a super insightful experience that helped me better understand how AI works at a basic level - how it’s trained on data, what it can (and can’t) do, and why human oversight is so important when using these tools.

Curriculum

Modules 1 & 2: AI Foundations and Tools

Objective:
Build a strong foundation in AI concepts, covering machine learning, generative AI, and the capabilities and limitations of various AI tools. Learn how predictive and generative AI are applied in the workplace to create emails and images.

Activities: Engage in a scenario-based assessment, interact with a conversational AI tool, and complete an internal case study.

Modules 3 & 4: AI Integration and Skills

Objective:
Discover how to integrate AI into your daily tasks to augment and automate your workflow. Develop and refine your prompt engineering skills to elicit high-quality outputs from large language models (LLMs).

Activities:
Apply AI to practical work tasks based on your job profile, such as preparing a presentation or writing text. Evaluate and peer-review LLM outputs, and practice prompt iteration techniques like few-shot and chain-of-thought prompting.

Modules 5 & 6: Responsible AI and Future Applications

Objective:
Understand the critical aspects of responsible AI, including security, privacy, ethics, and bias. Explore the future of AI and develop a plan for its continued use in your work.

Activities:
Use a checklist or framework to assess the responsible use of AI in different scenarios. Investigate additional AI tools not covered in the curriculum and reflect on how AI has been integrated into your work.
